Robert Petrisky

Principal Tuba

Robert Petrisky has been Principal Tuba of the Mid Texas Symphony, since 1986. He holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music Education from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) where he studied privately with J. Lesley Varner and conducting with James Sudduth. During his 40 year band directing career, he was selected "Teacher of the Year" at A. J. Briesemeister Middle School in 1993 and 1996 and at J. Frank Dobie Junior High School in 2005. Districtwide, Petrisky was honored as "Teacher of the Year" by Seguin I.S.D. in 1996 and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City I.S.D. in 2005. In 2003 he was recognized by the San Antonio Spurs Foundation as "Teacher of the Game". Petrisky retired from public school teaching in 2020, after serving 15 years as Head Band Director and Fine Arts Department Chair at Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. He is married to administrator/educator and artist, Dr. Irene Petrisky.
